What was your budget?

We spent about $13K on our wedding.

  • Photography:  $1927.00 + $750.00 for video
  • Dress:  $1500.00 including alterations
  • Catering:  $2020.00
  • Cake:  $450.00
  • Favors:  $150.00
  • Invitations:  $850.00
  • Venue:  $4244.00
  • Flowers:  480.00
  • Music:  $700.00

How many guests did you have?

We had about 135 guests.

What creative or personal aspects did you include in your wedding?

We used Ball canning jars since they were a big part of growing up and canning with my gram.

Did you do any DIY projects or create any handmade items for your weddings?

We did a sign for the ceremony saying ‘pick a seat, not a side we are all family once the knot is tied’

We also had wrapped and put together our favors. We put together an old barn window for some of our engagement pictures.

What was the biggest thing you did to save money?

We just tried to look for the best deal we could find for what we wanted.  We also did things ourselves, when we could. i.e. wrapping favors in burlap and making our own stationary labels for the favors, etc.  We also provided the florist with supplies for decorating the table decorations to cut down on costs a bit.  Just little things really, they all add up.

What’s the best advice you have for planning your wedding now that you’re on the other side?

Take your time, ask for help and DON’T stress if it’s not the way you planned. You’re the only one who will notice!

What was your biggest splurge?

I would have to say my dress!

What was your favorite detail?

My handsome groom! Or a materialistic item would have to be our unity tying board (three strands) and the flowers!

What is the most memorable moment of your day?

Having my dad and husband have first looks.
