From Kerry Jeanne Photography: Our inspiration came from The Great Exhibition of 1851, when exploration was at its height and the early illustrations of floral and fauna were popping up in illuminated books. We went through hundreds of drawings by botanical illustrators such as Ferdinand Bauer, Pierre-Joseph Redouté and even Darwin, using them as the cornerstone in our shoot.

With the backdrop of thick floral and plant life, we introduced more masculine shades of dark brown, tarnished brass and steel grey to not only compliment the more subtle colors of cream and berry but to add a contrast from the vivid green hues.

For the dress, I knew that I wanted something very romantic but not too modern. We came across a dress by Jenny Packham, which moved very delicately with the model and was adorned with intricate beaded details. It had a Downton Abbey feel to it that I felt would perfectly compliment the vintage aspect of our shoot.

The details were the most fun part of creating this entire shoot and I really wanted to give it an authentic feel with several hand-made details that I created. With a mixture of tea’s and coffee, I dyed paper to give it an older look and had my mother-in-law pen a love letter which was then sealed with wax. Along with the paper, I put together a small sketch book bound with suede. In it was watercolor illustrations and dried plants to make it seem like the book was being used regularly to document new discoveries.

Combined with the classic hairstyle and makeup from Jen of The Outer Edge, our model worked the dress flawlessly and made each move look so effortless, especially when combined with the long elegant veil and delicate crown by Tessa Kim.

We had four different stations, as we called it. The table, a drinks cart, the cake table and a writing desk. Each station was adorned beautifully from the talent of Beckie from Vintage Ambience, who so patiently worked with me in finding the perfect furniture and detail pieces for those stations. The lovely Shelby from Bond in Bloom created multiple floral pieces that made the entire shoot pop. Not only did she create the garland for our main dining and the small flowers sprinkled throughout, but she also created the absolutely breathtaking bouquet that was wrapped in delicate silk ribbon from Adorn Company.

And last, but certainly not least, was our cake (and tarts!) by Carla of Honey Crumb. This wonderful gal captured the entire essence of my vision and tied everything together as a whole.

I was a little worried with my inspiration being such a specific look but I am so honored to have worked alongside a team of such incredible vendors who understood my vision perfectly and exceeded my expectations.
