Margot & Glen

The country charm of Margot and Glen’s stunning Branell Homestead country wedding is the most beautiful thing to see. Stunning golden hills, wide open spaces and dancing under the country skies seems the most magical way to celebrate a wedding. They chose Shutter and Lace to photograph their day.

Margot tells the story of how she met Glen. “I was in Longreach as part of my Veterinary Science degree, celebrating a friend’s birthday at the Longreach Club with the rest of my class. Glen, Chief Pilot of Longreach Mustering, was also at the pub celebrating a friend just having gained his commercial helicopter pilots license. One of Glen’s mates decided to play a game of “Have You Met Glen” (Think How I Met Your Mother) to introduce him to some eligible ladies. The rest is history!”

Margot chose a beautiful gown from Wendy Makin, noting, “I looked at many different places around Brisbane for my dress, with the last stop being Wendy Makin. The staff there were exceptionally helpful and nothing was too hard for them! I decided on their ‘Arietta’ dress which was made to measure and customised with lace capped sleeves just for me. The lovely ladies even personalised my Kurt Geiger  heels with matching lace.”

Margot and Glen chose Branell Homestead for their wedding ceremony and reception, noting, “The ceremony was held on the lawn of the Branell Homestead, a short walk from where the reception was held at the wedding pavilion overlooking the lake. The location was just stunning and was the perfect location for our day.”

Jo-Ellen Moynihan officiated the ceremony, Margot remembering, “We wanted to have a memorable, relaxed and fun ceremony that reflected our personalities and our relationship. At the suggestion of our celebrant Jo-Ellen, we had a good friend of ours do a short speech during the ceremony telling our guests exactly how we met and how Glen proposed. It had the entire bridal party and audience laughing which set the tone for a happy relaxed day.”

Pollen Florist styled the flowers for the day, the bride telling, “I found wedding planning planning stressful, but it was made much easier with the help of my favourite vendor, our very talented florist!! Jess from Pollen Florist did and incredible job with our flowers. I gave her an idea of the colours and style that I liked and she created something more wonderful than I could have imagined!

She created a magnificent arbour for our ceremony and well as our bouquets, button holes, and reception table decorations of planter boxes filled with flowers and candles. These details definitely helped set the tone our our day and made that extra bit special.”

Of their photographer, Margot remarks, “We chose Lillie and Olivia from ‘Shutter and Lace’ to be our photographers. They did an amazing job and we are in love with the photographs of our day! They made us feel very comfortable and relaxed, most of the time we didn’t even realise they were there capturing all the important moments. We can’t wait to hang our favourites on our walls.”

“Our first dance was to Making Memories of Us – Keith Urban, on the dance floor under the stars, on the lawn beside the wedding pavilion lake – it was magical!”
