We are absolutely loving this colorful take on a mid century modern wedding! This vendor team wanted to create an intimate gathering perfect for a couple that appreciates the vibrance of the 50’s and 60’s, while also adding a fresh, modern take, and the result was fabulous!  Jade & Joy Events is joining us today to describe more of the inspiration behind this design that was so beautifully captured by Mary Sarah Photography– we can’t wait for you to take it all in!

This wedding is for a special type of bride who envisions a tad more than an elopement, but less than a larger wedding. She wants the intimacy of close friends surrounding her on her special day, celebrating in the space she feels the most comfortable: home. The patterns and colors of the mid-sixties tied together envelope this grown-up, eclectic woman. We wanted to capture the vision of a modern couple who loves mid-century design and wants a colorful, updated take on that style for their day.

Shanda from Flor de Casa Designs did a phenomenal job combining the bright yellows, oranges, and greens of the mid-century color palette of our shoot with the feminine touch of vibrant purples and pinks to create fresh, inviting bouquets and centerpieces. By hand-placing florals in the garland on the arch and in the lounge corner, we were able to add pops of color that connected all of the floral elements together.

The tablescape was provided by Boheme’s Jubilee, including the the table, plates, and flatware. Combining the old and the new with modern grey plates and rose gold flatware placed alongside Ann Margaret Ceramics’ handmade serving platters really tied the mid-century modern look together. Flor de Casa Designs’ centerpiece was the last touch to round out the look and add the right touch of vibrance to the neutral place settings.

The pitchers, platters, and salad bowl were handmade ceramics by Ann Margaret Ceramics, a potter located in Baltimore. We were ecstatic when, upon us telling her our vision, she offered to make each piece specifically for the shoot. Each item was hand painted following our color palette, making them a perfect nod for to mid-century modern couple. Each element of this shoot was hand-picked by our team, including the handmade small geometric shapes on the cake table created by Kelsey’s husband.

This color palette is so incredibly cheerful! And we love the concept of something that is a little more than an elopement- sounds like perfection to us!
