Happy Monday everyone! It’s Memorial Day here in the U.S., so today’s Amelia Island wedding is not only full of gorgeous pops of color and rustic, boho style, but has a dashing military groom too! Cheryl and Charlie’s wedding took place at stunning Walker’s Landing in Amelia Island, Florida, where a colorful floral arch complete with antlers added a perfect pop of color to the lush green outdoors for the couple’s ceremony. At the reception, bright, colorful florals by our favorite Shea Hopely Flowers were accented beautifully by table numbers and signage hand painted by Cheryl’s sister-in-law, while a greenery chandelier, draping overhead, and glowing candlelight added a beautifully romantic ambiance. The day was captured perfectly by Brooke Images, and lucky for us, Cheryl is sharing some of her wedding insights too! We can’t wait for you to see!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
We decided early on that we wanted to get a wedding coordinator. We are stationed out in California, so there where just somethings I couldn’t do. She helped out along the way for advice, but was essential on our wedding day. I wanted everyone to relax and not have to worry about the details during the event. My mother helped me to made sure everything was organized during the planning process. She was very helpful and I don’t think I could have done it without her!
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I tried to get as much information as possible about the vendors I was possibly going to work with. I could go for hours researching. My wedding coordinator had worked with most of our vendors, so I trusted her opinion. My florist had a great website and posted a lot of her work on social media. That really helped me see that she was the right one for me!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
I wanted to incorporated aspects of both myself and my husband. He likes to hunt and the fish on the marsh, so I knew I wanted to have our ceremony outside on the marsh. I also asked our florist If she could use antlers on our arch. Luckily, her dad also hunts and had a good amount of antlers to use! She then integrated colorful flowers- more my style. I would say our inspiration was rustic bohemian.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
I loved our arch and flowers, hands down. We also had some great little details handmade my artistic sister-in-law did (table numbers, chair signs, and seating arrangement).
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Sometimes over researching can make you more confused and frustrated. Try to pick what you like and stick with it.
Isn’t everything so gorgeous?! It’s been an honor to share Cheryl and Charlie’s wedding day with you all today, and Charlie, thank you so much for your service!
