Bride in Anna Campell Emily

Megan & Adam

Megan and Adam wanted a colourful rustic farm wedding for the start to their marriage. A day that they wanted to be relaxed, something that fit their personalities and something that was a lot of fun! They chose Matt Rowe Photography to capture the moments of their day.

As for how they met, their story goes a little like this. “These love birds were first introduced by a school friend of the bride – not in person, but set up by swapped numbers. Hitting it off straight away we arranged a Blind Date, not meeting before or even seeing a photo of one another (pre-social media)! You could call us high school sweethearts – Meegs still in Yr12 and Adz just finishing school. Meegs bravely arrived at their movie date on her own. Adz turned up armed with a wingman, Kernal (also our Wedding MC!), ‘just in case’.. The date went great. Meegs went back to Adam’s mate Ryley’s place (also Best Man!) and met all of his friends & their girlfriends. That cold May night, 7 years ago, is where it all began.”

Megan wore an Anna Campbell wedding dress from The Babushka Ballerina telling, “My wedding dress is the ‘Emily’ gown by Anna Campbell, Australian Bridal Designer. When ordering my dress and asking if I was able to add a separate skirt to this already stunning gown, I was told that ‘The Babushka Ballerina’ would need to speak to Anna Campbell herself to approve of the change. They came back to me with approval, explaining that this had never been asked for before – this would be a one of a kind gown! I know that every Bride loves their own wedding dress but I absolutely adored the soft, floating feel that the brocade skirt gave my dress! It was perfect and exactly what I wanted!”

“I walked down the aisle to ‘Safe and Sound’ by Taylor Swift. I don’t remember how I first came across this song, but know that I still absolutely love it and played it on repeat for a good few months leading up to the day. I’d pace out the steps in my head between the ribbon curtain of my dad’s and my bridal entrance to the moment I stood in front of my fiancé for the last time – soon to be husband. Just before Dad and I first appeared through the ribbon curtain, he told me “you look beautiful, sweetie”. I definitely shed a little tear and quickly tried to recover!

From there, walking down the aisle was surprisingly easy and calming! To be honest I didn’t really notice everyone there or how everything was set up – I just fixated on my man and was over the moon to finally be walking towards him!”

Wedding ceremony at Yandina Station

Megan and Adam chose Yandina Station  for their wedding venue, noting, “We wanted something that none of our married friends had done before. Something unique that fitted our personalities. Yandina Station is a beautifully restored working cattle station, perfectly manicured to hold weddings every week of the year! Our ceremony was held in the shade of the giant Moreton Bay Fig Tree, followed by cocktail style canapés and refreshments while the bridal party cruised around taking photos.”

Cassandra Neilson Coastline Celebrant officiated the ceremony, the bride remembering, “One special detail was to have our good friend, Cass Neilson (Cassandra Neilson Coastline Celebrant), as our Celebrant for the ceremony as well as a guest for the rest of the wedding! It was incredibly special to have our ceremony so personal, knowing exactly what to expect. With such a giant heart and so much love to give, Cass is one of the most beautiful people we have ever had in our lives.”

Willow Bud Flowers created the amazing floral arrangements for the day, Megan remembering, “Another supplier that made our day perfect, not just on the day but throughout planning, was Sandi from Willow Bud, delivering two of my favourite features of the day: 1) My amazingly beautiful bridal bouquet. It was so fragrant, with bright and punchy crimson colours – exactly how I had wanted it to be, yet so soft and romantic at the same time. It included pink pepper berry, grandiflora cluster lace red roses, free spirit columbian rose, snap dragons, wattle, tea tree foliage, David Austin roses and hanging amaranths!”

“I got to wear my mum’s veil that she too wore on her wedding day. Although it didn’t get to stay on very long! After the ceremony, my new mother-in-law accidently stood on my dress at the exact same time my new father-in-law gave me a hug, pulling out my veil. Too much of a drama to try and fix it back into my hair – it stayed out for the rest of the night.”

“Our wedding day was overwhelmingly perfect! It was incredibly beautiful to have all of our closest family and friends with us to witness our wedding, the happiest day of our lives so far, proudly planned from top to toe by the bride and her minions. From our hand-picked suppliers helping to set the scene with a relaxed, rustic charm, to the amazing food, to the picturesque landscape and our smoking hot bridal party, we could not have asked for a better wedding day!”

Of their photographer, Megan remarks, “When choosing a photographer to shoot our big day, it was incredibly important to us to find a photographer with their own artistic flare. We really loved the relaxed, candid shots we first saw by Matt Rowe Photography. Their beautiful images were not too formal and posed but just a lot of fun and an amazing use of light! As I started speaking to suppliers throughout the wedding planning process, I’d always ask opinions of photographers they’d worked alongside and they’ve all raved about how easy going and fun both Matt and Amanda Rowe are to work with. The beautiful shots they create simply speak for themselves! Once we met Matt and Amanda, it was easy to make the decision to lock them in!

On the day, we could not have asked for better weather! It was a warm, breezy Autumn day, with just the right amount of sunlight and cloud cover to capture those perfect, romantic, whimsical photographs. We had total trust in our photographers and they did not disappoint!!”

Yandina Station Fairy Lights

Reception celebrations began in the dairy barn at Yandina Station. “Once the sun began to set, guests were seated inside the Dairy Barn for the night’s festivities. The beautiful, old timber dairy was decorated in fresh flowers and fairy lights, giving the night that extra special twinkle. Not only was there a beautiful view of the rolling hills during the daylight, but also at night time with the reflection of the full moon shining down on the dam and the cattle.”

“I DIY’d all the stationery to do with our wedding. From the invitations including Invite, RSVP, Travel and Accommodation info, to the seating chart and table numbers on the day, as well as ‘thank you’s’ post wedding – I loved them all! The seating chart was a team effort between Adz and I, Amie and Gareth (Bridesmaid/Adam’s sister and brother in law), supervised by our niece and nephew (flower girl and page boy), to thread, hold and stable gun the twine to the timber frame I found in an op-shop.”

Willow Bud Flowers  created special floral touches at the reception, including a twisted willow heart. Megan explains, “Sandi’s heart wreath made of twisted willow, decorated in fresh flowers and hung among a wall of twinkling fairy lights was awe inspiring to look at! Simply stunning!”

“Our bridal entrance was pretty exciting for us both! For me (Meegs) the formalities were almost over and I was ready to relax and enjoy the beautiful reception we’d been planning for all those months leading up! For Adz, he was happy the photos were almost over and could just about relax, have a few drinks and catch up with all our friends and family.”

Of their first dance, Megan remembers, “Our first dance was beautiful in photos and on camera – but so incredibly awkward to Adz and I on the night!! Adam hates toe tapping in a bar let alone slow dancing, centre of attention, in front of all 60 odd guests! To us, it felt hilariously awkward. Adz did so well to go with the flow the entire day and night, even managing to spin me around during our first dance, serenaded by our live singer ‘Carl Wockner’ to ‘All of Me’ by John Legend!”
