Western Australian wedding

Nicole & Josh

There is a beautiful sense about Nicole and Josh’s golden hour Jewish wedding in Western Australia. Not only do I love golden hour for it’s beautiful, glowing light, but it also has a sense of magic. A sense of the day being done and a celebration of what is ahead. They chose Tanya Voltchanskaya to capture their day.

“We have known each other since we were 15. As we got older, we grew closer. At some point something shifted and there was a spark. There was much debate as to whether it was worth risking our friendship. We knew it wouldn’t be the same if things didn’t work out and we shared all the same friends. Once we got together we knew it was right & we haven’t looked back.”

Nicole chose a wedding gown from Fara Couture, noting, “I was never a bride who dreamed of their wedding day. Josh & I knew from day dot that we would always end up married, we just didn’t view our relationship as a marathon. One week after we got engaged I was searching the internet for bridal stores in Perth. I was instantly drawn to the dresses and photography on Fara’s website and called to make an appointment for that day. I went in not knowing exactly what I was looking for however knew numerous things I didn’t want!

As I went through my list with Fara she sketched away, intermittently hopping up to show me a fabric or style or cut from her couture gowns. After a 30 minute appointment, she turned the sketchpad around and showed me the perfect dress. Deposit down, dress tick.”

The couple chose Bluewater Grill for their ceremony and reception noting, “We selected the venue due to the beautiful panoramic view of Perth’s Swan River. Both the ceremony and reception were held at the same place. The ceremony took place on the grassed area in front of Blue Water Grill in Applecross and the reception was held under the stars at the restaurant.”

Nicole notes, “This golden hour ceremony had a quiet, traditional first meeting with close family and friends before the formal ceremony commenced. It was a traditional Jewish ceremony by the riverside in Applecross, with the beautiful golden hour sunlight streaming in, surrounded by family and laughter.”

The dancing kicked off straight away, the bride noting, “There was no first dance, however the moment we arrived at reception the crowd and live band burst into traditional song and dance and brought the party to life.” Nicole’s brothers were a part of the band playing double bass and piano.”
