Handmade Pastel Wedding

Looking for some great handmade and budget wedding inspiration? You will love this summer wedding from Magnolia Adam’s Photography that is filled to the brim with DIY details. The florals are so well put together, I couldn’t tell that they are actually artificial flowers. The resulting look is so sweet!

We desired for our wedding to carry a unique, vintage, and sentimental feel. We also themed our decorations using an earthy and rustic approach. For our colors we chose a turquoise blue accompanied by various shades of pink. To tie in with the color of our wedding rings we accented with touches of gold.

My wedding ring belonged to my grandmother. I never had the privilege to meet her before she passed away, but I feel like I know her because of the woman my mother is today. Growing up my mom always shared stories about my grandmother’s great faith in God and her generous heart to serve others. I am so honored and blessed to wear her ring, and I did not want to alter or change it in any way, it is the exact ring she used to wear. When I look down at my hand I am not only reminded of the promise and commitment I made to Talon, but I’m also encouraged to live as a loving wife, compassionate mother, and strong woman of faith, like my mom and grandmother.

Our wedding was held in a large log cabin nestled in a beautiful forest in Davis, Oklahoma. This location is very sentimental because it is one of the cabins at Falls Creek Youth Camp. My husband grew up going to this camp and God completely changed his life there, so we thought what better place than there to be married.

The most important thing to us while planning was not to lose sight of the whole reason we were planning our wedding in the first place. We wanted to keep our passion and love for not only each other, but also for God in the forefront of our minds. By keeping those things in the forefront, it trickled down to every aspect of our wedding.

Our wedding was handmade head-to-toe. I, along with help from my amazing friends and family, created just about everything. I’m the type of person that I wanted my hands and signature on everything. From the invitations, to the calligraphy signs, I made them all. I handmade our silk bouquets, and my flower crown, I found Afloral.com and Hobby Lobby very helpful place to find realistic silk flowers, I love how Lambs Ear looks, I included it in all my arrangements to give them a small sense of unity. We handmade rag banners, using muslin fabric and hemp twine, and strung them all along the ceiling to pull everything together. Our wedding had quite a few family heirlooms. All the lace tablecloths and doilies we used as decorations on the tables were from generations of moms, grandmothers, and great great grandmothers’ sweet hands and labors of love.

One of my favorite parts was during our reception we had a time of toasts. During those toast a few of our family members spoke so much life and encouragement into us as individuals and us as a married couple. I will forever cherish the words and wisdom they shared with us.
