Handmade Southern Garden Wedding

It was a Christmas party at a mutual friend's house where Audrey and Nael first locked eyes. They chatted, danced, and said their farewells until a few months later at a St. Patrick's Day pub crawl where they spent the entire day together drinking green beer and getting to know each other. Both Audrey and Nael will tell you, after that day there was no turning back for either one of them. Four years later on a romantic getaway to Charlottesville, Nael popped the question by hiding the ring inside a copy of the bride's favorite novel, Pride and Prejudice. (Hello, Jane Austen fan perfection!)

There was never any doubt this couple wasn't going to celebrate in true southern style. Born and raised in Virginia, Audrey knew she wanted to highlight the beautiful landscape, rich history, and amazing food. Charles City was the perfect backdrop, set right on the James River and surrounded with acres of beautiful gardens, it was everything they could have asked for. Captured by our very own editor-in-chief (which was one of her last weddings so this one is extra special!) and coordinated by Glint Events, the couple kept the color palette simple with white, coral, lavender, and blush tones seen throughout the ceremony and reception. Many of the details were DIY projects the bride and groom did themselves, including the custom calligraphy placemats made of kraft paper and white paint pens, lavender pot centerpieces, and all of the stationery.

From the first look, where they were able to spend a few minutes alone together and bask in the moment, to closing out the reception with one of their favorite songs and having all of the guests form a circle around them, it is a day Audrey and Nael will never forget. So rarely do all of the people that mean the most to you come together to the same place, at the same time -- it was truly a perfect moment in time, a moment befitting of old souls who found each other.
