Architects Elitsa and Zdravko, by profession, have a deep love for structures and buildings that tell incredible tales. It’s one of the top reasons why the two ventured from their home in Sofia, Bulgaria all the way to Italy and had an intimate old world wedding in Rome. They opted for a small, more tight-knit affair than the “traditional Bulgarian ceremony” they were so accustomed to back home.

After their magical church wedding photographed by Istanti Senza Tempo, the newlyweds traipsed up and down ancient streets and were stopped by so many well-wishers. To top off the heartfelt day, street musicians played sweet tunes and they had their first dance as husband and wife on Ponte Sisto overlooking the Tiber River. We can’t even comprehend the amount of emotions swirling around during such a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

How did you meet?

We are both architects. I started a job at the same firm where Zdravko had already been working. We liked each other at first sight.

What is your proposal story?

We were on a vacation in Ibiza. Zdravko took me to a lovely restaurant on the cliffs with a great sunset view. At a certain moment he asked the waitress to take pictures of us with the sunset and at that moment he proposed. It was very romantic.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important thing was to feel comfortable, to enjoy our day, not to worry about anything. We wanted our few guests to enjoy a few days in Rome. Everything was just as we had imagined it.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Our favorite part of the day was when we got out of the church and started our photoshoot in the city. Random people were smiling at us and greeting us- it was very special. There were street musicians who played for us and we had our first dance on Ponte Sisto. The perfect day!
