Kaitlyn and Jesse got married with just their moms and daughter as witnesses on the cliffside of Cape Kiwanda in Oregon. After Covid derailed their plans a few times, and since they already said "I Do" at the courthouse, they decided to scrap the big party and celebrate elopement-style!

How did you meet?

We met on a dating app. We chatted for about two days and both thought “what are we waiting for?!” It felt so right! So we decided to grab dinner at a local spot in Issaquah… and the rest is history!

What is your proposal story?

Our story doesn’t seem special on paper, but it is definitely special to us! We decided, after 9 months of dating, that we were going to get married! We told our parents the next day, called the courthouse, and got married that following week. It was quite spontaneous and I love our story!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).

I’m a minimalist. I like intimate weddings. Our plan was to re-marry (you know, since we already tied the knot at the courthouse) at a beautiful outdoor venue in WA state with family and friends present. Mother Nature had different plans. Covid happened and continued to push our wedding day out, so we both decided to cancel the wedding and instead spend a day on the beach on the Oregon Coast frolicking around with our immediate family and our photographer. It was an absolutely wonderful time.

Tell us about your attire choices.

I’ve always been drawn to the boho vibes. I found a wedding dress from Grace Loves Lace years before I got married and I knew it was the one. It was SO me! Once we started planning the wedding, I went to California to try on the dress I had been dreaming about. My heart was already set on it, but once I tried it on and saw myself in it, every ounce of my being knew it was the one.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important thing to us was a photographer who we clicked with and felt comfortable in front of. The photos captured at our wedding will last our whole lives so we wanted to make sure we absolutely loved them. Our photographer, Lindsay, was nothing short of amazing. I have so many good things to say about her! We would have spent any amount at all on her. She delivered a photo gallery that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

What was your favorite part?

My favorite part of the day, along with my husband, was being up on the cliff on the Oregon Coast, overlooking the ocean with the sun slowly setting, reading our vows. A moment I will cherish forever.

Are there any other details you would like to share?

Our budget for the actual wedding was going to be close to 25,000. We wanted to keep it small, but all the little things were adding up quickly! Once we canceled and decided to just do an elopement-style wedding, costs were cut down dramatically!
