Maxine & Jordan

When the worlds of modern and barn styling collide, you get something pretty spectacular. Just take a scroll through today’s wedding at The Woodhouse Wollombi, so beautifully captured by Euphoria Films.

Bride and groom, Maxine and Jordan, met back in 2011 during Schoolies. “I spotted him in the pool where I was also told about a rumour that he was a Balinese prince,” recalls Maxine. “I swear that wasn’t the only reason why I was interested!” The next night, Maxine made the first move and says the rest is history! “Our love has blossomed from there. We feel we are meant for each other. The way he looks at me truly makes me feel so special.”

On the big day, Jordan wore a dark navy suit from Connor. For a simple and smart look, the suit was paired with a white shirt and black bow tie, as Maxine has always loved him in bow ties.

Maxine chose a gown from designer Leah Da Gloria. “My dress was very simple but I also wanted to feel sexy,” she says. “I wanted something I felt was timeless with a modern twist (being the slit in the dress). The experience was great. I went with my mum to designer Leah Da Gloria in Sydney, who was so easy to talk to and figure out the perfect dress. The dress was part of her ready to wear collection and fit me perfectly the first time I tried it on and I fell in love.”

Maxine and Jordan’s gorgeous ceremony and reception took place at The Woodhouse Wollombi. “We had a one stop shop at The Woodhouse in Wollombi. That’s why we loved it. It was perfect for every occasion. Incredible spots to choose for the ceremony, amazing photos opportunities and incredible reception area for an indoor/outdoor wedding. This made the planning a lot easier not having to find different areas for different things.”

The hero piece in the ceremony setting was the incredible arbour, which was made by Maxine’s dad.

The bride walked down the aisle to a cover of ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Kina Grannis. Speaking of the ceremony, Maxine says it was perfect. “Our celebrant, Monty of Holy Matriomonty, made it so easy and he even started by cracking a whip, which really created a dramatic entrance. We wanted it to be just about us with minimal formal parts with our own vows and we didn’t want it to be too long. We didn’t have any readings, but our celebrant included a few stories about how we met and also introduced our bridal party, which was a really nice touch.”

About 15 minutes after their ceremony, the heavens opened! “It absolutely bucketed down and everyone got soaked. We were in the wedding car looking back as everyone was running for their lives towards the reception area. It was a crazy rollercoaster of emotions but everyone was such good sports and ended up bonding about it.”

Behind the camera on the day was the team from Euphoria Films, who made the couple feel extremely comfortable. “The photographers were truly amazing. Having two I felt was crucial as there is no way they would have been able to capture everything with only one. They knew exactly where they needed to be at every moment and were so helpful in guiding us to get the best pictures. The whole experience from first meeting Will was so easy. We had a few edited photos the night of the wedding ready to post on social media the next day which made the wait for the rest of the photos more bearable. Would highly recommend.”

Styling is one of Maxine’s biggest passion as she is an interior stylist. It was very important to her that she put her special touches on the day. “Myself and the company I work for (Interior Makeovers) brought in some furniture and styled it the day before. It was only simple but I was really happy with how it turned out.”

The flowers were also a huge part of the styling plan and they turned out perfectly, thanks to The Botanical Workshop. “My flowers I adored!” Maxine says. “I wanted them understated but beautiful. My florist nailed that brief, and with my bridesmaids in black, the natural whites, soft pinks and pampas grass complimented them so nicely. My arbour was also very similar.”

Reflecting on the day, Maxine advises that couples should take some time to just be with each other. “Also let your guests come to you and don’t feel bad if you don’t get to speak to everyone.”

For their first dance, the couple chose a cover of ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ by Christian Lopez. “We had very little practice but it still turned out perfect with everyone having sparklers at the beginning and everyone dancing towards the end of the song. We wanted a song that everyone knew so it made it easier for them to be a part of it.”

Maxine remarks that she will never forget her favourite moment of the night – the first dance. The couple stared into each other’s eyes and it was a moment where everything just felt so right.
