I am so excited to be sharing these ocean inspired wedding ideas with you all today! The new wedding inspiration website and blogger collective, Aisle Society, presented me with the challenge to mix-and-match a selection of Dessy bridesmaid dresses and design an inspiration shoot around them. Inspired by the seaside location of my former home, Tampa Bay, I chose a color palette of dusty blue, shimmering champagne, and sea-inspired aqua- all colors that are reminiscent of the sea and the sand. Knowing that I wanted to create a look that was coastal but not the typical “beach” look, I drew additional inspiration from elements of the sea, including rope, nautical maps, sea glass, and the natural surroundings of Tampa Bay. I called upon Kelly Hancock Events to make my vision come to life, and she pulled together some of my favorite Tampa wedding vendors (many of whom are V List members!) to create some of the most beautiful ocean inspired wedding ideas I’ve seen yet. Taking place at the beautiful bayside location of Tampa Bay Watch, florals from FH Weddings, a stunning custom invitation by Eleven Note Stationery, and hand lettering by Amber Veatch Designs were just a few elements that combined to create this wedding inspiration, and lucky for us, my friends Caroline & Evan Photography were there to capture it all! In choosing the bridesmaid dresses, I started by looking at Dessy’s Mix & Match styles that were in their “Quick Delivery” section. I of course started broad, first choosing dresses that were in the colors I wanted. Then I narrowed down my selections, ultimately choosing dresses that had similar fabrics and muted color tones, to keep with the the ocean inspired color palette. (Something to note: The colors of how the dresses appear online are very close to the colors in-person!)

From the designer and planner, Kelly Hancock Events:

Inspiration for this shoot was built around the stunning Dessy bridesmaid dresses that we fell in love with: three dresses that reminded us of the ocean and sand that the coast is so well known for. From there, a “coastal” but not “beachy” design fell into place!

In order to achieve this look, my main focus was texture. I wanted to keep things simple but with various textures and visual elements. I opted out of traditional linens and instead used gauzy ribbon and rope intertwined to create a table runner. It was the perfect contrast to the wooden table set with china and driftwood chargers, accented by the most beautiful blue glassware from Emily Grace Design! FH Weddings kept the florals untraditional, loose and wild while still maintaining femininity by using Protea, roses, oats and lots of greenery.  Pulling in design details like a sea glass inspired seating display, an incredible textured wedding cake by Hands On Sweets with driftwood and rope accents, and a stunning invitation suite with brass and braided ribbon by Eleven Note all made for gorgeous coastal inspiration! We added a touch of glam with the seating area and the bar by The Reserve Vintage Rentals and stayed true to the coastal mission with our map of Tampa Bay print by Oh Deer Creative. And of course our beautiful models, dolled up by Lasting Luxe Hair & Makeup, donning our seaside inspired selection of Dessy bridesmaid dresses!

Blues, greens, and a hint of blush paired with soft and rustic elements prove that you can have wedding that fits both the bride and groom in the most beautiful of ways. We hope you feel inspired by these gorgeous coastal details enough to create your own ocean inspired wedding design!

A huge thank you to Dessy for partnering with Aisle Society to bring this design to life! And thank you to the Tampa wedding vendors who helped make it all happen!

I truly hope these wedding ideas provide you with inspiration for your own wedding! The beautiful thing is that although inspired by the coast, this design could easily be done anywhere or for any style by making just a few changes. I for one would LOVE to see this color palette and design in a rustic or modern setting!
