Jami and Craig’s romantic Nashville wedding was one for the books! Taking place at Arrington Vineyards, pastel shades of blush and blue could be seen all throughout the couple’s farm wedding. Jami’s blush wedding gown and her bridesmaids’ gorgeous pale blue Jenny Yoo dresses were absolute showstoppers, and created so much beauty when paired with a rustic, romantic wedding design. Jami and Craig incorporated their family into so many aspects of their wedding- from Jami’s grandmother’s handkerchief on her bouquet to homemade pies and cakes, you can just feel the love that their heirlooms represent. And on top of all of the already amazing details, Craig hand-crafted quite a few details too! Kristen Weaver Photography was there to capture it all, and we cannot wait for you to scroll through the beautiful images of Jami’s wedding as she shares her wedding planning insight with us!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
Knowing what I wanted already, putting together a perfect team so I didn’t have to stress over anything, & my wedding planner. I’m very type A so I knew if I didn’t hire people I trusted I would be their worst nightmare, micro managing everything and I didn’t want to do that! I hired Angela as the planner, handed over my planning folder that contained everything I wanted and said here… go! And everything was taken care of!
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
Consistency and trust! Being a photographer myself the photos were the most important thing to me. We booked Kristen 6 months before we were even engaged, so a year and a half before our wedding! The next thing was not having to stress or worry about any detail so we hired Angela Proffit as our wedding planner! I had the best team of people that I knew I could trust and who were consistent with their work therefore I was stress free throughout the entire process.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
My family. While our story was just beginning I wanted our guests to see the story of our lives up to this point everywhere during the event. The board from our unity braid was from my grandfathers barn. My grandmothers hand written recipes were on display throughout the pie/cake table. All the pies/cakes (on the pie/cake table, not the wedding/grooms cake) were baked by mother and aunt using family recipes. Craig owns his own woodworking business and he’s Asian so we stained wooden Chinese fans for all of the guests to use. Almost all of the decor came from my parents home, Craig’s parents home or our home. (We love antiques) Everywhere you looked on that day you saw us… and that’s what I wanted!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
The fact everyone noticed all the little details that I had hoped would catch their eye! People said they had fun and that’s all we wanted was for people to enjoy themselves and feel like they were having a family reunion back home at mamas! ;) As for my favorite material thing…my memaw’s hand written recipes…everyone still mentions those to us when they talk about our wedding and now they’re hanging on the wall in my kitchen! Everyday I see them I think of her and I think of our wedding day!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Surround yourself with the best team of people whose work you admire and who you trust. Then let them do their jobs! Enjoy your day and don’t sweat the small stuff! If something goes wrong…laugh about it! We had a train come thru in the middle of our ceremony, the sound system failed for a few seconds, and we messed up our first dance… we still laugh about it all when we talk about that day because it’s what helped make our story… ours. In the end it was still a perfect day and I wouldn’t change a thing! Well… I would have eaten more BBQ and lemon pie! :)
We just love how Jami and Craig incorporated their family into every aspect of their wedding. As Jami said, “Everywhere you looked on that day you saw us.” That is the absolute best!
