Romantic Burgundy Mt. Rainier Elopement

With a big wedding at a beautiful venue in Seattle already planned, Christin and Leandrew had to change their original vision when COVID hit. They knew they didn’t want to wait another year to get married, so when the idea of eloping in the mountains was brought up, “it was a no-brainer” for this outdoor-loving couple. They went with an overall boho feel and chose a burgundy and ivory color palette for their attire and gorgeous bouquet by Alice’s Floral Design to complement the natural color of the mountains. Photography was a priority for them and these stunning and incredibly sweet photos by Peaks x Pines show how great of a decision that was!

How did you meet?

We attended the same middle school and became really good friends. Since meeting in middle school, we remained good friends throughout high school, college, and our early 20’s until we started giving each other relationship advice which then led to more one on one hangouts and eventually a relationship.

What is your proposal story?

We took a family trip to Hawaii back in 2019. At the time, we were expecting our first child later that year and thought it was the perfect photo op to do a gender reveal photo shoot on the beach. We were positioning ourselves into another pose when I turned and saw him on his knee. I was confused as I thought to myself, “that’s not the pose we talked about”. I soon realized what was happening when he pulled out the ring.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important thing to us was the photographer. We wanted someone who could capture our special moment because through those photos, we get to relive our wedding day everyday.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

The whole day was gloomy, cloudy, and a high chance of rain which had us stressing about it up until the day of. We were nearing the end of our photoshoot when the sun made an appearance as it was slowly descending behind the mountains. That was one of our favorite moments. We were waiting for it and the sun shined at the right moment. It lifted out spirits and it was the perfect ending to our day. Another favorite moment of mine happened when we were traveling from our airbnb to the mountains to read our vows. As we were driving up the mountains, my soon to be husband in his tux and me in my wedding gown, I remember just holding hands and gazing at the mountains in front of us. It felt like we were where we were supposed to be.

Why a Mountain Wedding?

As friends and while dating we would always go on hikes together. We also recently took up backpacking. There was nothing more relaxing and beautiful than spending time atop a mountain peak. When COVID hit and we had to change our plans, we thought about what type of wedding speaks to us as a couple and we instantly knew we had to do it on a mountain.

What’s your biggest piece of advice for other couples planning a mountain wedding?

My biggest advice for couples planning mountain weddings is to be flexible. Mountain weather is unpredictable but just trust that everything is going to turn out beyond better than you could imagine.
