Sweet Hometown Engagement Session in Jackson

These Mississippi lovers met on a soccer field for their respective teams, and ended up meeting their future spouse unbeknownst to them at the time. They met on the field and reconnected later on through a dear mutual friend. After a few years of dating, Nathan proposed to Sarah on a family trip. Of course, she happily said yes. Thanks to Meridith Lee Photography for a beautiful round of photos!

How did you meet?

We both played soccer at Hinds Community College, and we met during preseason the first night the two soccer teams hung out. We never dated while at Hinds, even though everyone thought we did. We reconnected through a mutual friend while he was at Mississippi State and I was in nursing school. The rest is history.

What is your proposal story?

A few days after I graduated from nursing school, he invited me on his family vacation, which was a cruise. For one of the formal dinners, Nathan and I planned to go out on the deck early to take some pictures.

After taking what felt like 20 selfies, I was ready to go to dinner, but right about this time Nathan started his speech. I was still clueless. He ended with “and if you’d let me I would like to spend the rest of my life trying to make you the happiest girl in the world.” That’s when it hit me like a truck. I looked at him and said “what are you doing?!” Then he was on one knee and I was saying yes. People on their balconies starting clapping and yelling as I was still in shock.
