Amy + Mark’s Sophisticated Southern Wedding At The Barn At Sycamore Farms | Classic Weddings & Real Weddings

Sweet tea, family tradition and whiskey are all a part of southern culture and incorporating these elements into your Nashville wedding is always a great idea! Amy + Mark tied the knot at The Barn at Sycamore Farms – a barn wedding venue located in the Nashville area. With the sweet tea flowing, the southern traditions were popping – especially since Amy is from a southern city herself – Charleston, SC! The barn was the perfect place to have a sophisticated southern wedding with their gorgeous grand chandelier as the centerpiece. 120 guests enjoyed they day filled with heartfelt moments – especially between Amy and her dad (I LOVE their first look photos!). Tell us about your engagement!

Amy: I love every aspect of Christmas- the lights, the trees, the hot chocolate, the music, the cute coats, hats, and scares. Mark set up a date to go see the Christmas decorations at Opryland Hotel. Everything was absolutely beautiful. With our hot chocolate in hand, we bonded up and headed for a carriage ride around the hotel. After this, we took a stroll through the atrium to view the elaborate decorations. Coming to a pause, Mark asked if could wait by the tree so he could find someone to take a good picture for us. After a few minutes or so, he came back with the sweetest little family. The dad began taking a picture and the next thing I knew Mark was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course I said “YES, YES, YES!” and the rest was history.

What was the vision for your wedding?

Amy: I am from Charleston, South Carolina and absolutely love the south- the southern charm, the sweet tea, the beautiful places and smiling faces. I wanted to bring my hometown to Nashville. I wanted something sophisticated yet down to earth. I wanted to incorporate cotton, seersucker, bows and bowties, whiskey barrels, and monograms. Both Mark and I are very family oriented so we wanted a ton of fun with family and friends.

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Amy: There are so many special moments from our wedding day, it's hard to pick just one! A few include the first look with my dad, the amount of fun I had taking pictures with my bridesmaids before the wedding, the moment I got to see my husband after a long day of waiting as I walked down the isle, looking into the audience and seeing so many of our beloved friends and family, and I can't forget the fun we had dancing all night at the reception.

What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?

Amy: Don't stress! Relax, enjoy, and take in every moment of your special day because it flies by. Yes, there may be a few mixups or mishaps here and there but don't sweat it.

Is there anything else you'd like to share about your wedding?

Amy: When it comes to a budget and deciding what to put money towards, I recommend putting money into the photography. I have looked through my wedding photos dozens of times and know I will continue to in the years to come. It's worth it to have pictures that you love. Our photographers were a joy to work with!
