Literature-Inspired Oceanfront Wedding Reception

Caitlin and Laura first met at Longwood University where they majored in English and fell in love surrounded by literature. Years of friendship became so much more, their careers blossomed into libraries and college administration, and finally, after 8 years together when same sex marriage finally became legal in Virginia, they immediately married at the City of Norfolk Courthouse. For their one year wedding anniversary, Caitlin and Laura wanted to host a reception to celebrate with family and friends at The Attic at Waterman's down at the beautiful Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

Inspired by their mutual love of classic novels and literary greats, Caitlin and Laura incorporated some of their favorites into their reception's decor that was all captured by Carley Rehberg Photography. From classic stories like Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice to modern romance anthologies like Michael Kelahan's World's Greatest Love Letters, these two brides had no shortage of options when it came to figuring out which books to have as their table numbers.

For their navy blue and white wedding attire, Caitlin wore rose gold jewelry accents with her white bridal suit jacket and black pants while Laura perfectly complemented her wife's simply chic look with a lace floor-length gown and ribbon sash. We absolutely love their inspiring wedding style, but the best accessory of all was their radiant smiles for each other as their loved ones filled the room love, support, hilarity, and joy.
