Simone & Jacob

In the streets of Perth, down a wee laneway in a chic little bar filled with the most eclectic of vintage-inspired decor, the wedding of Simon and Jacob came to life.

These two wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere for their day, wanting their focus on tradition, from “must do’s”, to family, to friends, to special touches (the bride’s father sang the couple’s first dance!) and it’s this, that made us fall in love with their story (and maybe a little, or a lot of dreaming over that gown!).

Adam Levi Browne was on hand, lucky for us – to capture it all – and share it with you all today!

Simone and Jacob met over music, the bride remembering “My friends and I had often gone to watch Jacob’s band play, and Jacob and I somewhat knew each other but hadn’t really ever spoken. Once I became single, a mutual friend introduced us properly and we talked and talked for a long time. We started dating not long after that and a few weeks on we were living together already! We have now been living together and in a relationship for almost seven years. We knew after that first conversation we had something special.”

The groom and groomsmen wore navy, tape and grey pieces from Jack London. The slim fit suit just what the groom was looking for.

The bride chose a beautiful  Katya Katya Shehurina designed gown from Through The White Door. “I had my absolute dream dress” she tells. ” It is by the Latvian designer Katya Shehurina. I saw the dress online and found that the designer is stocked at the Fremantle store, Through The White Door. I went in to see if this particular dress was stocked there, and it turned out it had just been picked up and was in the owner’s car! The service at Through The White Door is amazing and so friendly, I really enjoyed the process of choosing, fitting and buying my dress there.”

Simone & Jacob chose the  Harold Boas Gardens for their ceremony, the bride walking down the aisle to Low Roar’s “Nobody Loves Me Like You Do”. “We chose the gardens as it was close to the reception venue, an absolutely beautiful garden with a lake and waterfall, very private for being in the CBD and the sort of botanical garden I also dreamed of having my ceremony in.”

The ceremony was officiated by a family friend, says Simone. “We wanted it to be joyful, relaxed, very family-focused and an intimate celebration of our love. Our pastor, who is a family friend, wrote a beautiful metaphorical reading about marriage and it was perfect!”

Of their photographer, the bride tells “Adam was awesome, full of energy, always looked like he was having a great time and great with direction. We had many comments from family and friends about how professional but also friendly and approachable he was. We are in love with our photos!”

The floral details were styled by the groom’s stepmother. “I chose my favourite flowers, chrysanthemums, king white protea, green succulents, geraldton wax and native greenery. Jacob’s very talented stepmother did the flowers for us and I just let her know that these were the flowers I wanted, in white with hints of yellow and blue, and she made the bouquets of my dreams!” tells the bride.

Simone and Jacob chose the urban bar, Wolf Lane for their cocktail reception, Simone explaining “Wolf Lane already had all of the style and decorative elements we wanted for our venue, the vintage furniture, eclectic decorations, fairytale wall paintings and also the staff are awesome there.”

The newlyweds served up a wedding cake created by one of the groomsmen.

Guests were gifted small potted succulents as wedding favors.

Simone and Jacob loved wedding planning “We loved visiting venues together and imagining what everything would be like on the day.”

The couple took to the dance floor to get the evening’s festivities started. Simone remembering “Our first dance was such a great feeling. It was so good to have a little moment together and just feel that joy we both felt. Our song was an original song written and performed by Jacob’s dad.”

“As well as Jacob’s dad writing and singing a song for our first dance, we asked Jacob’s mum to sing ‘At Last’ by Etta James as she also has an amazing voice, it was very important to us for the whole event to be family inclusive.”

A big congratulations Simone and Jacob! Thank you for taking the time to share your day with us! Thank you also to Adam Levi Browne for sharing today’s celebration.
