This stunning North Carolina wedding took place in the mountains of Cashier at Trillium Lake & Links Club. Although a destination wedding for the bride and groom, Chrissy and Nick, they knew exactly what they wanted- a soft, antique feel against lush shades of green from the surrounding mountains. The couple worked alongside their wedding planner, Laurie Hartwell Events, to create a vintage, elegant design, incorporating colorful shades of peach and yellow to pop beautifully against neutral tones of gray and green. Lucky for us, our favorite photography duo, Concept Photography, was there to capture everything, and they even did a sunrise day-after session too! We can’t wait for you to take in the beauty of this stunning mountain day and hear all about it from Chrissy’s interview below!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My wedding planner, (who happens to be my fabulous Aunt) Laurie Hartwell, of Laurie Hartwell Events, was an absolute godsend. She has knowledge and experience that was invaluable and I would recommend her to anyone. Laurie referred me to Concept Photography who brought us those beautiful pictures. Also, this is an enormous understatement, but my parents were a huge help both financially and emotionally. I can never thank them enough for giving me my dream wedding.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I needed someone who knew me on a personal level, who could fully know and understand my likes and dislikes. Someone who was easy to communicate with and cared about my wedding like I did.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
I love rustic, antique, and earthy styles. Our wedding was a destination wedding in North Carolina (we live in Chicago) but the mountains have an energy that drew us in. I chose flowers that accented the shades of the green scenery. Muted yellows and soft peaches with hints of ivory and pinks.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
It rained on our wedding day, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The last droplets of rain sparkled in our photos. Right before I walked down the aisle, the clouds cleared up and as I looked at my soon to be husband, a rainbow had appeared behind him!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Be clear and honest about what your vision is. Be patient with your wedding planner and anyone else helping you. Do not get hung up on small things. When your day comes, you know you have prepared the best you can, so just enjoy it.
