Virginian Farmstead Engagement Session

Mary and Hunter strolled around a family farm one sunny evening for their Goochland engagement session with Brittany Lowe Photography. With a couple of outfit changes, it may convince you that this session was taken in multiple locations. Not true! The couple ventured throughout the property and took advantage of every angle. From the open amber fields to a silky blond horse, this session features bright rays and golden colors in every shot.

How did you meet?

We met on New Year’s Eve a few years back through mutual friends. We spent the night dancing and sipping champagne on a rooftop restaurant before eventually going our separate ways. Hunter knew there was an undeniable connection and knew he had to take a chance and see if there could be something more between us two. After a few weeks of giving him the run around, we had our first date! And I guess you could say the rest is history!

What is your proposal story?

A couple weeks before Thanksgiving, my mom and I made plans to see the Christmas lights festival at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, a well-known garden in Richmond, VA. I decided to make it a family affair and invite Hunter and my sister to join in on the fun. This became the perfect opportunity for Hunter to plan the best proposal possible. When the day arrived, the weather had a different plan in mind. Despite cold temps and a bit of rain, Hunter proposed under the most beautiful canopy of Christmas lights. Just when I thought he had pulled off the surprise of a lifetime, Hunter threw me for another curve and surprised me with an engagement party with both of our families and all of our closest friends. It was truly the best night of our lives!

Tell us about the ring/band.

A custom two-toned, radiant cut diamond set in a thin, gold, pavé band. The ring features a cathedral style with small diamonds lining the bridge and basket.

Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories.

Hunter and I had our photos taken on our friend’s stunning farm in Goochland, VA, so we wanted to wear outfits that were elevated but also a reflection of us. My first outfit was a white fit and flare mini dress with flounce sleeves by Keepsake. My next outfit was a long-sleeved turquoise, lace Slate and Willow dress with tiered ruffles. Hunter’s white button down and blue blazer complemented both of these outfits perfectly. For my third and final outfit, I wore classic blue skinny jeans with a white lace top by Saylor. Hunter went more casual as well with a blue button down and khakis. I finished all three looks off with black heels and gold Sheila Fajl hoops (my staple!).

Have you started planning your wedding? What is your wedding date?

Yes, we are almost completely finished with planning! We are getting married September 26, 2020, and it can’t get here soon enough!
